THE QUESTION BEHIND THE FINDING

A data leak is a broad signal. Your team needs the context.

People searching for data breaches or data leaks may be looking for news, a personal email check, or evidence affecting a business. For an organization, the useful question is narrower: do the available records contain accounts for our websites or work email addresses, and what can we learn from those matches?

Vuxep focuses on that credential exposure question. After you verify your domains through DNS, your workspace lets you search indexed account records, review exposure statistics, and configure notifications. It connects broad breach-monitoring concerns to evidence your team is authorized to investigate.

01 / DEFINE

Know which kind of exposure you are checking.

Separate the affected service from the account used to access it.

A data breach or leak can expose many kinds of information. Vuxep’s searchable index focuses on supported credential records: the account, the service it appears alongside, and available source observations. It is not a general search engine for leaked documents, payment data, or every incident reported in the news.

There are two useful starting points. Search an owned website domain to investigate accounts appearing against your services. Search a work-email domain to investigate company addresses appearing against other services. An email appearing in a collection does not establish that your email provider or company infrastructure was breached.

02 / INVESTIGATE

Move from a breach check to an evidence review.

Indexing dates and breach dates answer different questions.

Use the dashboard to identify affected hosts, work accounts, and changes in indexed activity. Open the underlying results and narrow the search to an exact hostname or email. Employee exposure profiles bring together observed services and password-reuse signals, while priority reasons explain matches to critical services or privileged work accounts.

Keep the evidence and the interpretation separate. A first-indexed date describes when Vuxep received a record, not the date of a data breach. A repeated record is not necessarily a new incident, and an exposed password is not proof that it remains valid. Compare the account and service context with your own identity and security records.

03 / MONITOR

Give new data leak findings a clear destination.

Share useful context through the workflow your team already uses.

Organization admins can configure notifications for newly indexed matches within verified scope. Start with a domain or create a narrower rule for a host, work email, account, or URL. Grouped notifications can reach email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, or a signed webhook, with the workspace available for deeper investigation.

Your team can also export scoped search results or create a branded PDF for a management discussion. The PDF redacts credentials and account identities while showing exposure totals, affected hosts, trends, priority signals, and verified-domain coverage. Admin and Viewer roles let colleagues investigate together while limiting who can change organization settings.

SCOPE & INTERPRETATION

Choose monitoring around the evidence you need.

A one-time email breach check and an ongoing organization investigation serve different needs. When evaluating a data breach monitoring service, ask which records it indexes, how it verifies domain ownership, how it represents dates and duplicates, and how an analyst can inspect a finding. Compare the evidence and the workflow for your own authorized scope.

No result can certify that a domain has never suffered a data leak. Vuxep reflects the supported records available in its index, with collection and processing time affecting visibility. It does not scan your infrastructure for vulnerabilities or prevent a breach. A walkthrough can show how the monitoring workspace fits alongside your existing controls.

A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

Talk to our team

How can I check whether my company’s data has leaked?

For credential evidence, verify the domains your organization owns, then search both your website scope and work-email scope. Review the available source and account context. A result indicates an indexed observation; an empty search cannot rule out other exposures.

Are data breaches and data leaks the same thing?

The terms often overlap, but neither label tells you exactly what happened. Establish which information became exposed, which service or account it concerns, and what evidence supports the date and cause. Vuxep focuses on indexed credential exposure rather than assigning a confirmed incident label.

Is Vuxep a free public data breach checker?

Vuxep is an organization product with a private workspace and DNS-verified access. Contact us for a walkthrough and an organization plan. It does not offer unrestricted public searches for other people’s accounts.

Will monitoring alert us to every new data breach?

No. Notifications cover relevant newly indexed matches, subject to available records, processing, and delivery. They do not provide a complete breach-news feed or guarantee immediate detection of an incident.
